It had been a long day for her. She walked towards her house holding a backpack in one hand and keys in the other. Though exhausted, she managed to give a smile to Valentino, a 7 year old kid in her neighborhood. As she reached for her door, she could hear the cars moving on the near-by road. She was glad that she was not one of them! She was excited to get inside, perhaps someone inside the house was waiting for her! She stepped in, her hand putting the bag down on a side table while the other hand slammed the door to be safe from unexpected strangers. As she made herself comfortable, she walked through the hallway into the kitchen, opened the huge white refrigerator that has been standing there since she moved in. Before she could make her mind to go for a fruit salad that would work the best with her new passion for gym, her taste buds screamed to have a French-vanilla cappuccino as quickly as possible. Aaahhh, who could ever deny such an amazing thing on this planet, well may be someone from Mars could! Totally captivated by the idea of the cappuccino, Veronica, black eyes young ambitious 26 year old girl reached out for a vessel to boil the milk.
She again reached to the cupboard, this time to get a cup in which she could have the real taste of the cappuccino. That wasn’t an easy for her. She was wondering why and from where she has so many of them-cups. She had so many of them, in all shapes and sizes, with different colors, and some of them even had a message on them. Not to miss the point, there was one out of all those shiny glaring cups that sneaked out again and again requesting to be picked this time. It was the one with a black handle and a scary message “All nighter study mug”. No wonder that poor mug had been resting on the cupboard shelf ever since she bought it. Ohh, did she buy it? Well, perhaps it was a gift from someone who really wanted her to study, or atleast try to! Poor guy, I mean the cup. The cup felt heartbroken as she reached for a not so good-looking green color coffee mug with floral patterns, as she always does.
She wondered why she never uses other mugs and cups. Does she need to give some of them to charity? Or to someone who really needs it, like, may be, a fresh new grad student? Or may be opting for a yard sale would help her financially, yeah few dollars. Perhaps, a couple of dollars and few cents. That’s it. Perhaps, she should decide this sometime later, she completely forgot she was tired. While the milk was boiling, she thought to go in her room and see the mess that she had to leave her room in this morning before she for school. She better do not think about how she managed not to miss her bus to school. She had no plans to drive to school on such a rainy day. While she was staring her room and trying to make her mind to leave the room like that, atleast for few hours more, she could see the squirrels in her backyard though her window. They were trying to quickly look for food as if they needed to catch up with some business meeting. She was wondering what do these creatures do the entire day of every week all the year round? She could hear some music, and she liked it too! And she was glad that people around her play the same kind of music that she likes, realizing very soon that it was her phone ringing!
By the time she reached for her phone lying in her bag that was on the side table, the milk was screaming to be taken off the gas before it could completely burn. Leaving the phone unattended, she reached for the milk on the gas, took it off and added it to the coffee, sugar, and of course, French vanilla! She could not have asked for more! What a wonderful time of day she was going to have, sipping her coffee, sitting in her porch watching the rain outside. It looked like she had everything she wanted. Just one thing that she missed. No need to mention, she still needs to see the unattended call!
